An Australian swimwear company, Lisa Blue whose depiction of image of Goddess Lakshmi on swimwear has upset Hindus worldwide. The company has claimed to have cancelled production of swimwear with Lakshmi’s picture on it.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement stressed that world businesses should be careful when handling various religious traditions as faith was something very sacred to the devotees.
Fashion designer Rina Dhaka says: “ As artists, designers have the freedom to translate their sensibilities into their clothing. But there is a thin line between sensational creativity and sensationalism.” “ At times, international designers, who know little about the different religions of the world, make a statement which stands out to be politically incorrect,” she adds.
I dont think this is just 'creativity of a designer', I strongly feel that the designer has some sort of enmity over Hinduism and its sentiments. If it is just creativity why cant the designer print his / her God or Goddess ! ? !
